Zen and Bill

Zen Proverb: " In spiritual practice there are only two things you sit and you sweep in the garden.  And it doesn't matter how big the garden is."

To me this is a very old version of The Serenity Prayer.  I'm always trying to balance motion and waiting.  Do I do something or do I wait to see what happens next?  Is this a time to sit in my garden and look around at stuff or am I supposed to be sweeping stuff up?  I pray for the wisdom to know, a hard won prize.

From the story called The News Hawk in the Big Book: "What philosophy I had was thoroughly paganistic - all my life was devoted to a search for pleasure.  I wanted to do nothing except what it pleased me to do when I wanted to do it."

I want it all right now and then gimme a little more.
